Weekend Masses Saturday night Mass is at 5pm and Sundy Mass is 9:30am. There will be children’s liturgy available for both Masses. You are more than welcome to join either Masses.
Family Mass There will be a parish family Mass on Sunday 19th March at 9:30am – the Bishop is visiting St Bernadette’s Church on this weekend too. All children and families are invited to join us for the Mass. The school music group will be playing and children will say the readings and bidding prayers. It will be a lovely opportunity to celebrate Mother’s day together.
Parent Consultations Please note the closing date for booking appointments is Monday 6th March. Parent consultations run from 3pm-6pm on Wednesday and Thursday after school. Please come to the school hall and you will be directed from there to your child’s classroom. There will be an opportunity to look at your child’s work in books.
Punctuality Please ensure your children are in school for 8:40am when the school gate closes. Phonics and reading sessions take place at this time of the day… every second counts!
Easter Egg Raffle The Easter Egg Raffle will take place on the last day of term. Raffle tickets cost £1 per strip. Please add your name and phone number to the back of the strip before it is returned to school. We will be collecting eggs immediately. Please donate as many as you can. We will be issuing letters/raffle tickets next week. The children often say this is one of their favourite St Bernadette memories.
This week BBC Tees visited school to take a drone picture and talk to children about the importance of making a difference in the world – see the clip via our Facebook page. Y4 and the FHC participants visited Osmotherley with their catechists to prepare for their Sacrament of Reconciliation. We also enjoyed a wonderful World Book Day today, with prizes given for the best creative writing piece. And finally, Y3 have completed an amazing week of swimming, with the instructor commenting on how polite and respectful they were!
After half term
School Anniversary The school anniversary is in March, but due to the date falling during Lent we have moved our celebration to April 20th and 21st.
On April 20th we will have a Mass in school for children in school and all past and present staff and Governors of St Bernadette’s.
From 3pm-5pm on Thursday 20th April, we will have an open house for anyone who would like to come and celebrate with us – this will be adults only as we won’t have space to accommodate children at this event.
On Friday 21st April, the children will be invited to dress in 1970s clothes and join in our top of the pops party. There may be a few surprises in store.
King’s coronation celebration We will celebrate the Kings coronation on Friday 19th May. The Mini Vinnies will host our special VIPs from the SVP. The children will be invited to come to school in their party clothes.
