The school and parish of St. Bernadette’s work together to prepare our children from Year 4 age and above to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
The children receive a passport to use when they attend Mass in Church.
The programme identifies themes, which are developed with the children and their parents through evening meetings led by our parish priest and catechists. The meetings take place from January, usually on a Wednesday evening in the school hall.
We use the I belong programme of study.
Each year our children preparing for their First Holy Communion take part in a retreat day which focuses on Reconciliation
The Sacrament of First Holy Communion usually takes place in June.
