Welcome
The Nursery class is part of a vibrant Foundation Stage within St. Bernadette’s school. We share our learning environment with our friends in reception.
Miss Simpson is our Nursery teacher. We are supported by Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Myers.
We have places for 26 children in each of the sessions (morning and afternoon). We also provide up to 16 full time 30 hour places – Mrs Myers and Mrs Braithwaite look after us over lunchtime – please inquire with our Nursery staff or the school office if you are interested in a full time provision.
Our morning session starts at 8.30 and finishes at 11.30. The afternoon session begins at 12.15 and ends at 3.15pm.
All children in school, including our nursery children, may attend our wraparound care – “School’s In” in the morning or “School’s Out” after school.
In Nursery we love to learn through play. We have daily carpet time where we practise our numbers, learn some sounds and enjoy singing nursery rhymes and other songs. We also love to practise our fine motor skills by doing Dough Disco and Squiggle while you Wiggle.
We have a wonderful indoor area where you can find us in our construction area, water area, sand area, small world play, creative area, playdough area, writing area and home area. We also spend lots of time outside, whatever the weather! We love biking, scooting, climbing, building dens, playing in the mud kitchen, exploring water and sand areas, and we have a role play area that changes termly. We are always busy!
During the session we have story and snack time with fruit and milk. We use Class Dojo to share photos and information about what we are doing in school. The children are given a reading record and get the chance to bring home a book to share at home each day. Please sign the reading record every time you read with them (a book from home or school) and when they get to 100 reads there is a special prize!
We are also happy to announce our new 2 year old provision which will run from 29th September 2025.

Please find below our termly newsletters. They provide a summary of the topics that your children will be studying each term.
