Welcome
In Year 2 we strive to create a happy, safe and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to shine. Our class is made up of 25 beautiful children. The class teacher is Miss Kennington and teaching assistants are Mrs Braithwaite (am) and Mrs Richardson (pm).
We pride ourselves on our resilience and our determination to keep trying, even when things feel tricky. In our classroom, we know that mistakes are proof that we are trying! We celebrate our efforts, learn from our challenges and encourage one another to keep growing, because we know that we can achieve great things when we believe in ourselves.
We are also very lucky to have our special class mascot, Poppy the Pōpokotea! Poppy helps us put our Catholic Social Teaching into action, particularly through the Preferential Option for the Poor. Together, we learn about looking out for those who are vulnerable, standing up for people who need our help and showing compassion to everyone we meet. Poppy reminds us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference!
Key information:
PE: PE lessons will be on a Monday and Friday. Please ensure children are wearing their appropriate kit on these days.
Reading Books: Children in Year 2 will practise fluency by bringing the same reading book home for one week. Children progress through their phonics phases until they are able to select books from our school library. All children are strongly encouraged to still read for pleasure alongside this.
